For our couples choosing Winter as their month to marry, we always like to plan for lots of candlelight and add in extra specialty lighting such as festoons, fairy lights and chandeliers. Also creating a nice cozy atmosphere at the ceremony and post ceremony drinks will be important, depending on the venue some comfortable lounge inside and some good heating is always appreciated.
Celebrating love in the time of corona brings with it a whole new consideration for couples wanting to get married. Looking to plan a dinner party, let alone a wedding, can feel incredibly daunting in these uncertain times.
We all love a good wedding, however this age-old custom has taken on a slightly new look as Covid-19 has joined the party — like the uninvited guest deciding to gatecrash. Suddenly couples are having to consider things like travel restrictions, MIQ availability, bubbles (the non-alcoholic variety), masks, sanitisers, social distancing, not to mention the dreaded lockdown.
At some point during 2020 we all realised that hosting a large destination wedding, or travelling to a dream location was going to be a little more challenging than at first thought. However a global pandemic and having to put the big dream wedding on hold wasn’t going to stop these to lovers from exchanging their vows together with an intimate ceremony on a beautiful Island in the South Pacific, known as Waiheke.
It goes without saying that good food makes a good event. Waiheke Island has always been blessed with fine wine and dining, we really are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out here on the island. Along with all the amazing restaurants and caterers there is also the incredible local produce such as locally grown Te Matuku Oysters and Waiheke Olive Oil, which really add to the whole ‘local’ experience.
Nicola and Harry flew over from Australia for their special day on Waiheke and had planned for an ‘al fresco’ reception at Goldie Estate. Lucky for them the weather played it’s part and the tables were set up outside- leaving the main function room available for some serious dance floor moves later on in the evening. The style for this special wedding was all about Tuscan Vineyard Romance, with whites and blush for the blooms, and tones of soft silver grey and fresh white linens on the tables.

Nothing beats a good party, especially with a little ‘Fiesta’ spice and colour added in. Casita Miro is our local Spanish inspired vineyard, and no better place to host a party. Lucy and Alex chose to host their welcome drinks here, part of a three day weekend of events for their guests - most of whom had flown in for the wedding.
If you know Poderi Crisci Vineyard on Waiheke, then you know that it’s just like heading over to Italy for the day, only closer! If you are after something with a little Italian flair, love Italian food and wine and the Tuscan countryside is what you long for, then this is the place. We had the absolute pleasure of organising this amazing private event for a super cool couple celebrating their 10 year wedding anniversary. They wanted a relaxed and beautiful setting for their guests to enjoy, plus a fun kids zone to keep them happy throughout the day.
Our Safari Stretch Tent has been a favourite this Summer, blending in perfectly with the elegant wooden poles and beautiful Chino canvas. It’s the prefect size for a lounge cover, or can easily be used for staging or an outdoor ceremony.
We so loved being a part of this special day- Jess and Steve so know how to throw a party and have a good time! Being from Sydney they chose an Australian based Photographer and Videographer - the amazing Bear and The Rabbit, and we were so happy they did! The photos are incredible, and it was one of those perfectly lit Summer days - check out those evening hues!
Elena and Rick had their hearts set on Waiheke, and found the perfect location at Honeymoon Bay - an absolute beachfront venue, to host their marquee wedding. With slightly moody skies, this December wedding offered some of the most beautiful elements along with an incredible backdrop; a lovely soft palette of colours and textures, beautifully styled blooms by the incredible Leaf & Honey, a mouth watering menu by Little Wolf and overall just one of the most elegant and romantic settings to host such a special occasion.
Genevieve and Phil married on Waiheke in February. With the amazing Anna Kidman on board for the photos, we knew this was going to be special. Genevieve was clear from the beginning of having a day that was relaxed and romantic, yet with touches of elegance, and I think she nailed it! It was such a pleasure working with these two on planning and designing their day.
